Sherlock was, at first, unbeknownst to John's musical skill until he was watching the young man play with some of the greatest in the Central London jazz band. Sherlock had to know more about John. The setting takes place when John is 13 and Sherlock is technically 12, but they grow up apart and reunite when they're 16 and 15 respectively.
