Written for Zutara Month/Zutara Big Bang/Zutara Week 2024. Katara, a lovely and ambitious Southern waterbender, is chosen as the first maiden from her tribe to be brought to Fire Lord Iroh's court during its Bride Season when thirty-six eligible young ladies compete for Crown Prince Zuko's hand. She moves into the Lotus Villa, the part of the palace where she and the other potential brides are kept safe, and befriends the front runners in the Bride Season despite her blossoming feelings for Prince Zuko. But life at court isn't all parties and dashing suitors. Katara is swept up in political rivalries which threaten her new friends and the prince she loves.

What if Katara stayed in Fire Nation? What if Mai never came back?

This is a work of fanfiction that was inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender, specifically the Season 2 Finale. The story follows the Gaang in alternate storyline where Zuko finds the right path sooner. At "The Cross Roads of Destiny" Zuko decides to join Team Avatar after connecting with Katara over the loss of their mothers. Katara sees that Zuko has just been lost up until this point and uses the spirit water on his scar. *Some things have obviously been changes to suit the fanfic.*

The story goes back to the time of the Southern Raiders, when Katara and Zuko make a trip for Katara's revenge for her mother. What would it be if they had more time together, not just return to the gang immediately? I twisted A LOT of the story details and the story will head out a whole lot different than the original plot~!! P.S. Zuko and Katara are not sixteen and fourteen in my story. NEVER. When Zuko falls ill with a deadly spirit fever Katara learns her healing abilities are the only remedy for his illness. While spending time together the two develop feelings for one another, but Katara refuses to act on her feelings. Leaving Zuko to wonder if Katara will ever be able to look beyond who he was in his past, and fall in love with who he's become in the present.

When Aang was shot down and claimed to be dead... Another had fallen and was also claimed dead, accept he was really dead. Prince zuko. When the gaang finds out the tragic death of the prince of the fire nations murder they almost seem to feel it's unreal, the boy that have hunted them will never bother them again... They all feel different about it, guilt, confused, even the thought of zuko not deserving it, but also anger yet relief... That's until one of them runs into the blue spirit and finds out a dark secret that only one other knows of. "Zuko?"

Aang's reluctance to take Ozai's life has lasting consequences for the friends he leaves behind. Lovers, Zuko and Katara must flee the capital and make their way back to Ba SIng Se and their friends. With the future of the world hanging in the balance, the gaang must regroup to survive and Zuko must decide what he's willing to sacrifice to protect the new Avatar.
