A BOY. A CAT. A NIGHTMARE IN TWO WORLDS! (A Wattpad FEATURED Story) * *Voted 'TOP 100 Children's Books to Read in a Lifetime' by GOODREADS.COM users!** ***Raves from The Guardian (UK), KIRKUS, Midwest Book Reviews, AMAZON, and more!!!*** In the sleepy town of Appleton, a young loner follows a stray cat onto the road and is struck by a car. A leg is shattered, a summer is ruined, and the troubled life of Billy Brahm goes from bad...to cursed. When the mysterious cat appears at his bedside, Billy is haunted by strange and prophetic dreams; the creatures within them speak of Watchers and Shadows...and the Enemy that Awakens. Does this impossible realm hold the key to healing his broken body? Is the golden-eyed cat there to help the boy, or to make the nightmares come true? Too frightened to share the truth with his strict adoptive parents, Billy realizes that the only ones he can turn to are the local vet's daughter, the town's 'crazy cat lady'... ...and a mystical tiger, beckoning from his dreams. --- AUTHOR'S NOTE This is the first volume in THE SHADOWLAND SAGA -- a powerful and personal epic, intended to make you think, and feel, and Dream. It's a tale that slowly tightens its grip until you're unable to escape its haunting and mysterious grasp. Thanks in advance for all the comments, votes, and support! I truly hope that you enjoy your journey with me through through the Veil... Brooke Burgess www.brookeburgess.com

The first rule of Superhero School: Don't call it Superhero School. Anna Green is not good at Superhero School. In fact, she's the worst student at Paramount Lake Academy for Troubled Youth. Since her best friend went rogue three years ago, Anna has been the queen of her misfits at PLA. And she can't wait to graduate in two weeks and finally walk away from the worst twelve years of her life. But when finals week takes a turn for the worst and the graduating class finds themselves abandoned by their school, it's up to Anna and her band of misfits to prove their worth. Magic caused the war. Magic is forbidden. Magic will save us. The Relic Guild is the award nominated first book in The Relic Guild trilogy. It was said the Labyrinth had once been the great meeting place, a sprawling city at the heart of an endless maze where a million humans hosted the Houses of the Aelfir. But when the Thaumaturgists, overlords of human and Aelfir alike, went to war, everything was ruined and the Labyrinth became an abandoned prison. The surviving humans were trapped behind boundary walls a hundred feet high, and all magic was forbidden. And now the war is returning. The Relic Guild are all that stand against the end of the city. But they are old, scattered and weak, and the enemy is growing in strength... Here in THE RELIC GUILD (and other stories) please enjoy a large chunk of The Relic Guild Trilogy (published with kind permission of my publisher Gollancz), complete short stories, the odd poem, one or two blog posts, and samples chapters from my other novels.

What if mental illness isn't actually an illness? What if it's a marker-- a signal to anyone who understands what to look for? What if it makes you more powerful than you can imagine? Willow has panic attacks. Alastair is manic depressive. Mari hears voices in her head. None of them are what they seem. A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: "What if he wasn't sick, what if he was special?" Two years ago on the anniversary of my brother's death, I asked myself this question. I was sad and missing him and I suppose the side of me that's still a little girl, liked to imagine a world where my brother was invincible instead of a seventeen year old paranoid schizophrenic. His illness would eventually drive him to take his own life and even twenty years later, his losing battle with mental illness it is a defining part of my life. The idea for this story is outlandish-- what if being mentally ill actually made you a sort of superhero-- and it's NOTHING like my traditionally published books or my social media persona. In fact, when I finished this last year I filed it away and never really planned to put it out because it's so different. But then I realized that even if it was weird, I kind of loved the weirdness and since it's never been read by anyone or edited (yikes!) there doesn't feel like a ton of pressure for perfection. So this is it, an oddball idea that feels pretty special to me. I hope you don't think it's too terrible. ;)

From #1 Bestseller Morgan Rice comes an unforgettable new fantasy series. In A THRONE FOR SISTERS (Book one), Sophia, 17, and her younger sister Kate, 15, are desperate to leave their horrific orphanage. Orphans, unwanted and unloved, they nonetheless dream of coming of age elsewhere, of finding a better life, even if that means living on the streets of the brutal city of Ashton. Sophia and Kate, also best friends, have each other's backs-and yet they want different things from life. Sophia, a romantic, more elegant, dreams of entering court and finding a noble to fall in love with. Kate, a fighter, dreams of mastering the sword, of battling dragons, and becoming a warrior. They are both united, though, by their secret, paranormal power to read other's minds, their only saving grace in a world that seems bent to destroy them. As they each embark on a quest and adventure their own ways, they struggle to survive. Faced with choices neither can imagine, their choices may propel them to the highest power-or plunge them to the lowest depths. A THRONE FOR SISTERS is the first book in a dazzling new fantasy series rife with love, heartbreak, tragedy, action, magic, sorcery, fate and heart-pounding suspense. A page turner, it is filled with characters that will make you fall in love, and a world you will never forget. Book #2-A COURT FOR THIEVES-is also now available!
