This is the sequel to I'll Survive. Johnny Cade is an angel watching his best friend suffer. It's the same book as I'll survive but it's in Johnny's P.O.V. Johnny wants to help his best friend but if he tells Ponyboy he's there then something very bad will happen to him. As for Ponyboy he cuts, has hallucinations, and is barley managing to stay alive. He thinks everyone hates him and he tries to hide his depression the best he can.

Ponyboy Curtis is living with his two older brothers Sodapop Curtis and Darrel Curtis whom they call Darry. Ponyboy has become depressed and lonely and starts having suicidal thoughts and hallucinations. He gets panic attacks often and rarely eats, speaks, or even leaves his room for that matter.
