Sometimes, I'm not entirely sure that reality exists. People say the sky is blue, but how do we know that the blue I see is the same as the blue you see? We can't, because we have no ability to look through each other's eyes. People say coffee tastes bitter, but how does anybody understand what the word bitter means to someone else? We don't, because we cannot possibly taste with someone else's tongue. How do I know that the past three years of my life haven't been a dream? How do I know that I'm not about to wake up, a 13 year old kid who fell asleep in U.S. History? I don't, because my dreams always feel so real up until the moment I open my eyes. **Featured on DARK FANTASY and ADULT FICTION reading lists** WARNING: EATING OR DRINKING WHILE READING THIS STORY IS HIGHLY INADVISABLE. Once Upon A Time, Good Omens, Monty Python, and Arrested Development had a back-alley three-way and birthed a fairytale. Gerald wasn't supposed to be stuck living seven centuries in the future. He definitely wasn't supposed to be "mentoring" The Dark Lord's progeny in the hopes that she would decide to save the world rather than destroy it. In fact, he wasn't even supposed to be named Gerald (the name of every other male in his family for three hundred years), because everyone assumed a weak-chinned, balding, forgettable man, who was just a magician, could never be who Geraldo The Foreshadower prophesied. But that's what assuming gets you, and here he was saddled with a fate he never asked for, in a time he didn't know, surrounded by people he didn't want to like, and he was out of Firewine AGAIN! The Dark Heir is a darkly satirical tale of assumptions, anti-heroes, and apocalypses, where the road to hell is actually a themed water-park slide covered in slightly less urine than a real one. It drops literary and film references faster than an NYC socialite drops names, and promises endless laughs - including, but not limited to, sad chuckles, guffaws, uncontrollable giggles at inappropriate moments, brays, barks, cackles, snorts, cachinnations, and the occasional howl (though that may be the Welsh Werewolves showing up unannounced). Consider yourself warned... Reviews: "Completely and adorably bonkers," says @floranocturna "Hilarious in every way. Even when I cringed, I laughed," says @LadySapphire2018 Winner of The Trident Awards

GHOST IN THE SHELL meets THE LUNAR CHRONICLES. Year 2154, Hong Kong: Bod Mods are all the rage. From forearms equipped with blast cannons to telescopes implanted to irises to jet propellers as feet, there is no limit to the modification available that money can buy. University student Chan Meiha witnesses a gruesome Bod Mod safety mechanic malfunction on campus, but that's only the beginning. It's one thing to switch off a glitching machine; it's quite another when it's literally neurally wired to your body and refusing to obey. With the safety measures of Bod Mods now defective, Meiha is tasked to help her stepfather, one of the creators of Bod Mods, fix this glitch. But there are people all too happy to misuse their Bod Mods without repercussion and restriction and Meiha has to sort this before chaos befalls her city. Written for Open Novella Contest II. Round 1 winner.

Ever since everything she loved was ripped away from her in The Woods, Olive hasn't exactly been the heroic type. If anything, with her newfound abilities, she's been pursuing chaos and revenge compared to good deeds for the sake of good deeds. However, when a cop with questionable motivations and even more questionable abilities makes her an offer she can't refuse, she forms a reluctant alliance and realizes there may be a bit of a hero in her after all. Okay, maybe that's pushing it a little. Anti-hero. That's more like it.
