Callie Walsh was never meant to be part of the end of the world. The daughter of Shane Walsh and the result of a one-night stand, she lived her life split between two homes-caught between her father's chaotic presence and the stability of the Grimes family. Born just three months apart from Carl Grimes, Callie grew up alongside him like a sibling. But when the world fell apart, she was with her mother... and Shane didn't look back long enough to find her. Locked inside her home with her mother Stephanie, Callie waited as the dead took over the streets. When their food ran out, Stephanie left to search for supplies-and never came back. Alone, starving, and terrified, nine-year-old Callie made the only choice she could: find her way to the Grimes' house two streets over. But Lori and Carl were already gone. Broken and alone, Callie thought all hope was lost-until Rick Grimes stumbled through the door, barely alive but determined to protect her. Together, they set out to survive the impossible. Yet in a world where nothing is simple and no one is safe, Callie must learn that family isn't always who you're born to... and survival comes at a price.

Georgianna, a mysterious, unchaperoned lady, must join a California bound wagon train with a Joseon card shark in order to escape her unfortunate past. Georgianna, often called Miss Elliot, hasn't found a place to call home ever since her father's unexpected death. Driven from her New England home and forced to abandon her Uncle's plantation in the dead of night, she flees to the "Gateway to the West" where she hopes to join a wagon train headed to California - the only problem being, she doesn't know the first thing about traveling West. Lee "Card" Young, sometimes referred to as a con artist, has never spent more than two weeks in any town since before the Mexican War broke out. He knows how to manipulate a deck of cards better than most Americans could cut a steak. The saloon gamblers don't like his slick fingering but can't figure out how he's cheating, so they drive him out of their town on claims that "Chin-eese" don't belong among them. To avoid being lynched, he keeps a small suitcase filled for a quick escape to the next town - which happens to be Independence, Missouri. Will the Card Shark con Georgianna out of her money or will she con him out of his heart?

"No name to remember, no past to regret. It wasn't always like this, was it?" He woke with a dream in his mind, a monster so dark the starless sky seemed to shine. Something he had? Perhaps something to be? A slip of memory that made a saint fell to his knee. He was an outcast, but was it always like this? Perhaps, perhaps he was. But is it true that no man deserve redemption? Is it true that a cure for the madness is just an assumption? For these men knew nothing of mercy, just death and repetition. Is it true, that a monster deserve no such redemption, for their broken heart and wrongful action? Perhaps they don't, for their anger had grown, far beyond that of a forsaken one.
