Frank Iero has always been different than the other kids at school. Gerard Way has been in a coma for two months after getting into a near-fatal car accident, driving under the influence. He cannot do anything but hear the people around him. He so badly wants to wake up, but doesn't know how. One day, when Frank Iero visits his dying grandfather in the hospital, Frank sees Gerard, and from there, an immediate connection between the two is created. Over a period of time, Frank begins to develop feelings for the comatose patient, waiting for the day he will wake up, and Gerard also begins to develop feelings for Frank, but still longs for the day he gets to wake up out of this comatose state he's been in for so long. Gerard Way was addicted to smoking, he was 16, and he found himself thinking about his absent parents. He tried not too, but every morning he was forced to remember that he was abandoned at the age 4, as he woke up in the foster facility with his brother, Mikey. He was so busy making sure Mikey was happy, he forgot to make sure he was happy himself. He knew Mikey deserved a family and parents, but Gerard was seriously fucking selfish. He had nothing left, except the beautiful boy he once met, Frank. He had to save Frank from his broken heart, even though Frank considered Gerard to be the one who needed saving from his own addictions. Gerard's self-destruction was getting out of hand.

Gerard Way is the school's Norman Bates. He's freaky, he acts like he's constantly anticipating something, and he does taxidermy. People fear him, and quite honestly, he gets off on it. There are so many bad rumors circulating about him that even he isn't sure which ones are true. Meanwhile, Frank Iero has a reputation for himself. He's an idiot. A comedic one, especially with his friend James, but an idiot. He once came to school high off his ass and passed his math exam with flying colors. It was a dumb move, but an entertaining one. Frank is twenty eight: he's mentally stable for the most part, and well nobody has to know about pills he takes twice a day, do they? He's normal now, he's a person now, he's a fucking adult with an office job and he fucking hates it and that's fine, because he got out of the mental hospital three years ago, and these past three years of mundane nothingness have been the best three years of his life. Ten years ago, or so, Frank was in love with a boy called Gerard with fiery red hair and the personality of a switchblade knife, and ten years ago that boy called Gerard had killed himself. Frank still saw him though: hallucinations, as he knew them to be now, and it took him years in a hospital he never thought he'd get out of to convince himself of his newfound sanity, but he was okay now. Twenty eight year old Frank Iero had been officially 'okay' since he was twenty five. He hadn't seen Gerard again, and he didn't even think about the guy - he was just normal, and he was almost painfully content with being the secretary to someone with a five figure salary. But of course, on one fateful morning in December, that has to go and change, doesn't it? Gerard Way is curious about the abandoned house just outside of town. It has always captured his attention ever since he can remember. Every time he asks about it people say "it's haunted" or "it's empty" or "why are you even worried about a stupid, old house?"
