They both have much to conceal from each other... and yet the Force seems to make a point of bringing them together at their most vulnerable moments. Why do this? Why expose mortal enemies to each other's weaknesses and fears? Read and find out! This is a post TLJ Star Wars romance to help tide you over until Episode IX. The story tries to stay true to the film characters with a delicious slow burn. Rey is a woman of action and Kylo/Ben is a man in love but not mushy. Also an adventure story with some action scenes and a healthy dose of speculative Resistance and First Order plot. Chapters alternate between Rey and Kylo Ren's perspective. "Ben...," a request hanging between her lips, eyes searching the darkness for words, she turned to face him. "We can't do this. I can't do this. We made our choices on Crait. I can't help you.I can't save us. " Each word she said hurt her heart and wounded his like a dagger. " The force bond has not broken despite the death of Supreme Leader Snoke. Kylo Ren has an entire first order to prepare for the final battle that will seal the fate of the Galaxy. Rey has become a beacon of hope for the Resistance. Their moments of quite solitude are interrupted by the presence of the other. As their bond deepens, each finds it harder to pave their forward. The sense of intimacy and belonging they find in one another threatens to bring down the galaxy.

❝He didn't say anything, just stared. A malicious glint came to his eyes. "Rey, I did not think you could be this foolish. I am years older than you, physically and mentally. How could I ever fall for a Jedi? I am stronger that that." This was what he reiterated in his head every day, every second he thought about her. But she was right indeed. He did like her. It seemed like an understatement almost. He needed her. Every second that Rey wasn't with him felt like torture. He couldn't let her know that. He also desperately clung to the darkness. His darkness was what fueled him and what kept him going. He couldn't possibly give that up. The girl was a conundrum. "Liar," Rey whispered. She crossed the distance between them. Now, they were only a few inches apart, separated by the bars of the cell. "You're right," he smiled. Yet again, it didn't reach his eyes. Rey was right. He could barely stand to be someone he wasn't. But his past called for him. "I am a liar. A manipulative beast." He reached out and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "You would do well to stay away." She stepped back. She had felt a jolt of something when he touched her. Like she was being set on fire, but she loved it. "St- Stay away from me," she stuttered.
