Wren Jacobs has always loved a good surprise. It could be a party, gift, or even just her favorite cup of coffee- nothing made her smile more than that. Until one surprise ruins them all. When she finds herself crying in a dingy supply closet and trying to figure out how to sneak out unnoticed, the last thing she wanted to do was come face to face with her boss. Niall Horan has seen a lot of things since he took over the ownership at Willow Lake, a prestigious golf course- In fact, he was pretty sure he had seen it all. That was before he found his employee tucked away during a party with tears running down her face. Before he knew it, he was standing in front of people he had never met with his hand laced with hers, acting as if he knew everything there was to know about her. A single night of pretending turns into an invitation that neither of them can turn down no matter how hard they try, giving no other option but to fake it until they make it. However it's no surprise when things start to get a little hazy, blurring the lines they've drawn and bending the rules in more ways than one. Niall and Wren manage to find themselves exactly where they told themselves they wouldn't. A place where pretending doesn't quite feel like pretending. At least not anymore.
