Jack meets Nickie at the Brain Chip Clinic, where he goes to rent skills to make his life amazing-amazing enough to forget everything else. Nickie's cute, and Jack hits on her, but she just laughs. Then he goes off and lives his amazing life, travelling the world, surfboarding, playing in rock bands-until the chips wear off, and he comes back for another hit. But too many brain chips in a short amount of time can cause for brain overload. Nickie knkows this as well as Jack. And they're both in trouble.
