New feelings arise when the pair become closer, inviting Merlin to a whole new world of love and magic. Though, no true love story goes without conflict. When Kara comes for a visit, chaos seems to come along with her, leaving the life of the man Merlin swore to protect in jeopardy. Between the recent tears in Merlin's relationship with Arthur and his internal struggle with magic, this book encompasses the true endeavours that Merlin and Mordred have to face... Together. The king feels no guilt when he enters the couple's home, killing both Balinor and Hunith as they try desperately to protect their son. But, instead of having the child meet the same fate Uther decides to keep the young dragonlord as a form of token. A spoil of war. So, once he returns he locks the boy away somewhere deep in Camelot's dungeons. Merlin remains there for years, alone and afraid until one day a young prince finds him.
