in a summer full of broken promises, shane can't function without things being pretty, and ryland can't function without shane. - ryland adams is your run-of-the-mill boy from california. he's seventeen, addicted to smoking, sick of seeing his two best friends make out and hiding the fact that he knows his parents are sleeping with other people. the only way he wants to forget about these things is by getting hammered at parties and maybe erasing the label of 'single' written across his forehead. shane dawson, however, is far more layered. the last few days of his life have felt like he's been in a movie, and moving into a strange house in a strange city for the summer isn't exactly helping him press pause. he can't function without everything in life being pretty, and when he finds out he's going to be spending the next three weeks with ryland, the need only intensifies. with a suitcase full of secrets and a mental illness he's too terrified to even come to terms with himself, can shane give ryland the summer he really deserves, or will the two end up starting something neither can finish?
