She was known as The Ghost, the most fearsome poison assassin in Bido Kingdom. No one lives after she attacks. No one can buy her loyalty. No one can control her. No one knows her whereabouts. She comes and goes as she pleases, blowing in with the eastern wind and leaving with the northern storm. But before she was The Ghost, she was just Du Hongmo. An orphan picked up by a family of farmers that raised her until an unfortunate event killed her foster family. Pitiful, alone, and betrayed by humanity, she survived on the knowledge that the only person she could rely on is herself. Du Hongmo meets a Goryo. A vengeful ghost who ties her soul with Hongmo and teaches Hongmo everything she knows. "The world never wanted you. You have a cursed fate. The world brought you into this world unwanted and now the world wants to throw you away without even a chance to fight for yourself." The Goryo whispered into her ear. "Meeting me is your fate bringing us together. Du Hongmo, do you know what your name means? It means Poison Iris. And before I became a Goryo, I was a poison expert. I'll impart on to you my knowledge so you'll have a fighting chance in this cursed world. And in return, you'll feed me the souls of those you killed." Forced into an unwanted life and death contract with the Goryo, Hongmo strives to live a conscientious life while walking on a thin line of good and evil. On her journey to find herself and her place in the world, she will encounter the men who will stand beside her as she takes revenge on the man who lied, chased, and broke her.

[Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner] The Redding takes you if it knows your name. That's the rule that's kept Meg alive --- or awake, rather --- since the night the world went to hell. Nobody knows where the red stuff came from, but it acts like water, it's in the water, and it falls as rain every night. The people it captures drop like puppets with their strings cut. They're asleep, not dead, and they can be reawoken. But then they just try to kill you. Meg and the other survivors she's befriended think they've found a stable equilibrium, six weeks after the catastrophe began. In an empty town, there's not much to do except innovate new survival methods. Meg's crush is the one to discover that Morse Code, like writing, is a safe means of communication. That's all fine and good until the nightly rain begins. Raindrops, as it turns out, can make dots and dashes, too. The Redding can talk. And it's telling her to run. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner. Veronika Koroleva Petrovna-Moscow's untouchable queen. The wealthiest, most powerful woman in Russia. A name that drips with arrogance, feared as much as it is revered. With a single glance, she ensnares. A presence so sharp it cuts. To her, people are nothing but pawns-disposable, forgettable, irrelevant. Trust is a currency too expensive to waste. Loneliness is not a curse; it is a necessity. No parents, no attachments, no weaknesses. Begging? Pleading? Nyet. That is beneath her. Luciana "La Reina" Monteserra-Madrid's deadliest shadow. A queen of ruin and carnage, cloaked in elegance. Cold. Calculating. Lacking even the pretense of empathy. She does not ask. She takes. What she touches, she owns. What she claims, she keeps. No one defies her. No one escapes her grasp. But Veronika? Veronika was the exception. The one thing she could never own.

She expected a spacewalk, maybe a shooting game inside an asteroid field, skimming along the Collective's border before turning back to the Empire's space.
