Livue's father made a terrible mistake. To compare the beauty of his newborn child to that of the jealous and ancient Fae was an insult that could not be ignored by the fair folk. And so, the princess was taken in vengeance, the Fae leaving behind a changeling in Livue's place to trick her parents into believing it was their daughter. Meanwhile, the real Livue would be raised in a house that dwelt between the realms, cared for by Queen Foxfrost of Winter and her sisters of Summer and Autumn. At eighteen, Livue discovers that she is not the only one of mortal blood to be brought into the Fae realms. The half mortal son of the long lost Spring Queen is imprisoned there as well, Gebhardt the Iron Prince, the greatest Fae Killer in the land. He becomes a loathed captive of Foxfrost, the Fae queen who raised Livue as her own. Livue realizes that she must choose between truth and loyalty to set right the wrongs done by her surrogate mother, a fairy she has come to love. A retelling of the tale "Fairer-Than-A-Fairy" from "The Yellow Fairy Book" complied by Andrew Lang.
