Some lights go dark not because they are gone-but because they are waiting to be found. Fern is a Tender, a quiet moth who collects and preserves light in tiny jars beneath an ancient willow. She believes her purpose is to keep things safe and still-until an exhausted traveler named Cinder arrives carrying too much luggage and an unlit lantern. As they share nettle tea and quiet mornings, Fern begins to question if keeping something means holding it tight... or letting it go. A gentle fairytale about loss, rest, and the quiet magic of letting someone help.

"The Masque of the Red Death", originally published as "The Mask of the Red Death: A Fantasy" (1842), is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. The story follows Prince Prospero's attempts to avoid a dangerous plague, known as the Red Death, by hiding in his abbey. He, along with many other wealthy nobles, hosts a masquerade ball within seven rooms of the abbey, each decorated with a different color. In the midst of their revelry, a mysterious figure disguised as a Red Death victim enters and makes his way through each of the rooms. Prospero dies after confronting this stranger, whose "costume" proves to contain nothing tangible inside it; the guests also die in turn. Cover by the lovely @CaffeinatedKiwi

It was a gloomy town, sure, but Isaac didn't think much of it. He laughed off the myths, dismissed the graveyard, and pushed away his thoughts of anything supernatural. He was pretty damn stupid to do that, though. (BoyxBoy, Vampires)

"Black Beauty" is narrated as an autobiographical memoir told by the titular horse named Black Beauty—beginning with his carefree days as a colt on an English farm with his mother, to his difficult life pulling cabs in London, to his happy retirement in the country. Along the way, he meets with many hardships and recounts many tales of cruelty and kindness.

Be careful where you find yourself during the night. You never know if one wrong turn could turn out to be your last turn. This world is strange like that after all, you could spend years on this planet without anything happening, and the next you're the person being talked about in a missing persons case. Perhaps something about a bear dragging you off in the middle of the night, or suicide, or even a kidnapping? either way, you should always be armed before you head off into the dark, one wrong move and you may never come back. Don't take the security you have at home in your bed for granted. A Trip to the Rest Stop is my first actual story submitted onto here. Used to test the waters. Enjoy. Edits will be coming soon.
