A dark foe. A forbidden love. A deadly, high-seas quest. Mercenary sailor Jack's past comes back to haunt him when his crew receives a commission during the height of hurricane season. Charged with returning the all-too-familiar Prince Valory to the capital by way of the isles, Jack and schooner Windjammer battle storms and sea-monsters alike in Oceana's treacherous waters. Jack's new patron, however, is no ordinary nobleman. A hardened soldier and powerful commander, Valory boards Windjammer to scour the isles for signs of the mysterious new threat at Oceana's borders: an evil that burns innocents alive and smashes ships to pieces. Yet Jack isn't without secrets of his own -- secrets that unravel under the growing intensity of a forbidden attraction to his patron. Forced to reclaim his lost title, Jack comes face-to-face with the past he thought he'd outrun. As Windjammer races to defend Oceana from invasion, he and Valory must work together to untangle the threads of the dark alliance threatening their home, crew, and kingdom -- or risk losing everything in the process. In the land of gods and monsters, humanity ravaged Malcea with endless wars. Their insatiable hunger for treasure, pleasure, and power led them to forsake the gods who had once guided them. For thousands of years, the gods remained silent, watching with grief and fury as their creations spiraled into chaos. But when humans stood on the brink of war with the ancient dragons, the gods finally chose to intervene. Their return, however, was far from merciful-for the Gods of Malcea had darker, more sinister designs for their wayward children. Karos, a soldier of Asalph, is one such pawn in their game. Trained to hunt dragons, his beliefs are shaken when he forms an unexpected bond with Ake, a dragon desperate to return home. As Karos questions the gods' motives, he must decide whether to uphold the laws of his homeland or fight for a future shaped by his own choices-and the fragile, growing bond with Ake who challenges everything he thought he knew. _______________________ @Haylee for this gorgeous cover!

PREVIOUSLY TITLED 'BLOOD THRONE' { Wattys 2018 'The Originals' winner } Shadows trail Rhaessa wherever she goes. Whether that's her magic or past, she can't seem to escape them. Wrestled into a corner with only one way out, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truths of her vicious kingdom. Varyn walks a very fine line in the royal courts, finding herself at the mercy of the King's whims, where one wrong move can have terrible consequences. When a string of murders is committed inside the castle walls, the time is ticking for her to put a stop to it before chaos erupts. Two women are forced to uncover the blood, bones, and treachery that built their kingdom and line the throne. The stakes could be their lives or worse. Much, much worse. War? That doesn't quite cover it. TW: violence, implied SA, and mentions of suicide/depression. This story is heavy and has some dark themes. *** Disclaimer: although I made the cover myself, I do not claim to have made any of the beautiful art used on it. He looked over at me in the dimness, fingers loose in my grip. "You are hurting me," he said, without interest. He had caked powder on his already pale skin, all of one shade except for points made by a hot pencil. Though it was no longer the mode at court, the new fashion more ostentatious and overdrawn, he still favored it, and as I did. My fingers crept up his wrist. I felt rough punctures, half healed and raw, a scattering of them, and I pulled. Laurent could not resist, weakened by the drawing of his blood. My vocal cords had been severed by the younger one's teeth, and so I could not speak, but I pushed up his sleeve, the luxury of his white linen, and found his arm colored like a polluted river. I touched the bites with my fingertips, ten, fifteen, twenty. "I have felt your judgment already," L whispered, trying to pull his arm back, "I have felt it these now two hundred years. Judgment judgment. Cry not. Is it pity? You are a cold thing, without heart, to judge me for what I do. Prideful toad." His arm muscles worked against my grip beneath his blood bruised skin. "Unhand me. Wretched, lye-broken flesh." After a time, he made a sound like a trapped fox, a dying child's keen, and gave up, lying back on the bed such that his hair fell across my face. My other hand found his neck and stroked him. "You will not know what it feels like, good heart," he said to me, softly, doing me one of his gentle nips of an insult, "for love to change you in an instant." He relaxed under my stroking, and his tone softened. "I only meant to help him die." ** After his untimely death, the story of the vampire "L" comes together. Devotees tell the story from many points of view across history, painting a portrait of a man crushed by great loves, desperation, and the indifferent march of time. featured 3/9/16 complete 8/31/16 Editing, as of 5/11/2018.
