Link never took an interest in socializing with other people. He was always going to school and working so he can focus on providing a life for his little sister, Aryll. Zelda, his new neighbor, moved next door to him. He was forced to welcome her and show her around since she didn't know anybody else in the neighborhood. Zelda became someone he got close to. She made him feel comfortable to open up to other people. Link still wasn't interested in dating, but when he got set up on a date, Zelda started to develop feelings for him. He didn't know he loved her until she was with someone else.
