recently released from a decades-long exile, ex-Quaestor Kire Jarkeiwicz has been granted a year of freedom before he has to rejoin the Covinus, the vampire mafia who has had him under a short leash for over two hundred years. Desperate to escape, he travels to San Francisco to ask for help from the only vampire he knows who's not embroiled in the Covinus: John Lubbek, attorney at law. John is a Sanguinarian, a vampire who drinks from blood packs and treats humans as equals. He defends humans--particularly those known as Genetically Diverse--in the courts of law. After hiring his old donor's GD nephew as an intern--and the unexpected visit from the ex-Quaestor Jarkeiwicz--he gets the case of a lifetime, the opportunity to bring Sanguinarians out into the public eye and break the influence of the Covinus once and for all. But the Covinus has been around for thousands of years, and won't give up the fight--or their top assassin--so easily. And it's already hard enough for GD people to be accepted by humans; what's to say that Sanguinarians will be accepted as well? In this political thriller, it takes those that aren't quite seen as human to find out what it means to be a person.

Nordic winters are brutally cold, and they do a great job at depleting resources. Surviving one of these winters often takes determination and the stubbornness of a Viking. That is, assuming no problems arise. But when a horde of territorial and venomous dragons arrives in Berk, ensuring his tribe's survival quickly becomes something Hiccup must work at in order to accomplish. Warning: This story contains some violence and graphic descriptions. This story is loosely based on the episode "Frozen" from the DreamWorks Dragons TV series. Or define who we are? This is a story collection with my own thoughts about the various moments in our lives, the various emotions we feel when we are faced with a situation we must deal with. Milo was completely ordinary until an extra-ordinary war threatened his home and everyone he holds dear. Now he must find it within himself to fight for a world he barely knows, navigate complicated relationships and twisted loyalties to save everyone he has ever loved or die trying. _______________________ My heart panged at the thought of being alone. Owen got up to leave, my body now thoroughly warmed and safe under the mounds of blankets. I reached for his arm, holding him there for a second, begging him with my eyes. "Please don't leave me alone," I mumbled into the pillows, my words muffled by the fabric, and slowly, as if I would shatter into a million pieces if he moved too harshly, Owen crawled in beside me, holding me in his arms. "Ok." He murmured into my hair. "Ok." He repeated, and I drifted off. For the first time in a long time, I felt safe. Cover by Kimkunkur
