Jessie Kawecki desperately needs a break. Her girlfriend broke up with her, she's sleeping on her brother's couch, and she's got maybe about forty dollars in her wallet. Still, when she gets offered the position of nanny to the three cheeky daughters of single mother Elizabeth Canfield, she hesitates. Closed-off and cold, Elizabeth is harder to handle than all of her kids together, and Jessie has no idea how long she can manage to put up with her. But she could really use the money, and she probably won't see that much of Elizabeth anyway. Why else would she need a nanny? Started: December 16, 2020

What if your body doesn't always do what you want it to do? For June, this isn't a question, but a daily reality. As a fourteen-year-old with cerebral palsy, frequently dropping stuff and being stared at by complete strangers is nothing out of the ordinary. Other than that, life is great, until her parents decide to move to California. With all her friends miles away and nobody there to protect her from boys stealing your lunch, school becomes a lot more complicated than it had been. Then, she befriends Sam Redstone, a shy boy who'd always been invisible to others. June's days improve drastically with Sam by her side, and when she meets his older brother Nathan, she finally believes her cousin Valentina might have been right about sexy California guys. Slowly, she and Nathan develop a unique friendship, one that, June finds herself hoping, might someday turn into something more. But as the years go by, she's starting to think she might never be with him that way, or with any other man for that. Started: 29 January 2019 Completed: 16 May 2020

"Life is like a rose bush." He was staring at the stars. "How so?" I was confused. He looked at me. No, not in a romantic way. He didn't look at my breasts like a regular teenage boy would. He didn't put his hand anywhere on me. He could've, but he didn't. He looked at me like a normal person. He looked into my eyes and I looked into his. His innocent, ocean blue eyes. "Life is like a rose bush. Everything seems fine and beautiful. If you make one wrong move, you could end up in pain." Somehow, the beauty faded from the rose bush as I ended up making a wrong move and ending up in the thorns.

According to her brother, high school sophomore Emily Randazzo has a "GPS brain" which set her route and won't let her try a new one. But as far as Emily is concerned, her whole life has been spent in trials - like trying to decide whether she should live in Brooklyn with her strict Mom or suburban Jersey with her lenient Dad - or trying to figure out how other people's brains work and why hers is so different from theirs - or trying to navigate when she should stand firm in her ways, versus being flexible for others. After so many years struggling to fit in and be happy, Emily finally feels that she's found her lane in life. She's attending an all-girl school that she loves, made some good friends like her bestie Jenny, and set a goal to be accepted to Yale University. So of course she doesn't want to change direction now! However, a weekend visit to the relaxed rules at her father's home puts new detours in Emily's path, starting in the form of two boys: her brother's best friend Kelly, and next-door-neighbor Evan. Soon enough Emily begins to wonder if she should recalculate. Divided between two parents, two states, two boys and the possibilities of two extremely different lives, Emily is trying to figure out who, what and where she wants to be in her future.

[completed] Nova Carter knows exactly what the next few years of her life will look like: she will work harder than anyone else (as she didn't get into New York University to slack off); she'll be keeping her head down and prioritizing getting her affairs in order; and she'll ultimately make her parents proud by being the living proof of anyone with a disability being able to make their dreams come true. Little does she know that her carefully planned path is about to take a detour into the extraordinary. After all, she hadn't quite anticipated befriending the son of famous billionaire Sergei Macarevich on the first day of her orientation week, nor meeting the son of equally famous billionaire Hudson Wilder that same night. And she definitely hadn't anticipated tumbling right into the inner circle of New York's elite (disability, clumsiness, inexperience and all). As Nova navigates this new life, she finds herself forming an unconventional family around her. With her childhood best friend by her side, Nova immerses herself in the lives of her newfound wealthy friends, an exuberant roommate, and a spirited group of NYU's disabled rebels led by their eccentric counselor - finding love in forms she'd never dreamed of on her way. A romantic, heart-warming and diverse coming-of-age with a Spotify playlist and characters' social media posts. In the town of Carbondale live multiple teens with much different stories than usual. Marcus Bonn, a sixteen year old sophomore, has been living with cerebral palsy his whole life due to a failed abortion attempt by his homophobic, abusive redneck family. He realizes he is gay, but would be beaten if his family found out. So he pursues his secret life by drawing paintings and keeping them "in his closet." When he meets a boy that will change his life, his life changes for the good, but Marcus's dark past could trigger horrible outcomes, or, could it be positive change? Jake Leeds, seventeen, is also hiding a big secret: he's a gay music lover! But, all of Carbondale sees him as a straight jock. He's outed when his teenage hormones make him show a homosexual act in the locker room towards a boy named David, making him lose all of his friends and personal respect. His sister, Haley, is in Marcus's class and is very close to him, but a dark past and secret feelings of her own will cause her relationship with herself and her family to plummet. When Jake meets Marcus, the two immediately bond, but the pathway to full trust is shaky. After all, Marcus, the poor kid with the disabilities isn't hiding any other secrets of his own, is he? David Hernandez is a Mexican student studying at Carbondale, but he is facing problems of his own. When the local authorities find out that David's father has been living undocumented, anything but the truth can keep this family together. Three anonymous writers who tell their own Carbondale High stories cause three huge problems to corrupt the city of Carbondale, but the problem is, who are they? Story is still being written, and changes are being made. Copyright, Nathan Bailey. 2017

❝She was a sunflower, and even though she never faced the sun, she was still beautiful.❞ When Finnegan Annson reunites with his anything-but-boring, garden-scented childhood friend Orenda May Castellano on a cold winter day, it's no secret that his uneventful life slowly alters into a marathon of new beginnings. And so begins a story about a girl that saw the world in its utmost colours and gradients, and a boy that could not see what the world really had to offer him. Literally. But when Orenda flings Finn into her world of colours and hands him a paintbrush, and their footsteps turn into dapples of colour, perhaps he can see the beauty. And maybe he can see the wonders that no one else can really see at all. After all, anybody can create a masterpiece. Even if it's just with a sucky paintbrush. © 2015 Jennifer Chen (wonder1238) All Rights Reserved
