One, slow day, A dark haired, leather clad boy comes strolling into the bullpen in the 99th Precinct in Brooklyn. He shares a conversation, mostly in Spanish, with Detective Rosa Díaz, who seems annoyed yet also glad to see him, when she introduces him to her squad as her brother he catches the eyes of Detective Jake Peralta. Jake seemingly cannot get him out of his mind, the way the boy strolled in like he owned the place, the way his black hair was tousled about, his honey like, thick accented voice as he greeted Jake. The boys are drawn to each other and can't seem to ignore it.

Her mother is long dead, and her father is a deadbeat who terrifies her. The only thing going in her favour is her job as a detective with the 99, even if they make her uncomfortable sometimes by coddling her too much. What can she do? She is the youngest.
