She is actually Castiel's soul sister. It's like soulmates but they were meant to be siblings. Well we all know how big brothers are. Castiel forbiddened Alyssa to leave Heaven. She had to get Castiel's approval to do anything. Then, Alyssa leaves Heaven, without Castiel knowing. She was tired of being alone, tired being bossed around, tired of not being able to live the life she wants. She wanted to find someone to love. She wanted to find someone to call her bestfriend and do weird stuff with and it won't be awkward afterwords. But, we always don't get what we want, right ? Alyssa meets the Winchesters not too long after she left Heaven. The brothers found her beaten by a demon and they took her in immediately. Whenever she tried to leave, they asked her to stay with them until the case was over. Let's just say she never left their sides after that case. But sooner or later, she finds out why Castiel was the way he is with her. ~~~~ "Why do you think I am the way I am with you," he yells. "So you can a total douchebag to me," I snap at him. "No," he says pinning me to the wall, "I'm like this to protect you from what's after people like you, and not the angel part of you."
