A Prophecy. A Shipwreck. The Battle for Britain begins... They hardly remember the May-children. The one hundred and forty children King Arthur exiled from Britain. Mordred – he’s the one they talk about. They say he was the only May-child who survived. They were wrong. This is the story of the children King Arthur sent to their deaths on the strength of Merlin’s prophecy. This is the untold history of the Children of the May. Children of the May is the first novel in S. J. Moore’s Children of the May saga. Inventively adapted from tales in Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur and other medieval sources, the Children of the May stories are full of action, adventure, mystery, humour and romance - a version of the Arthurian legends for today.

Four years later another equally mysterious young person arrives in the city and takes up residence with Nim and her uncle. His name is Arthur, and to him a destiny is revealed that he never even dared to dream of. Nim and her uncle along with a few others will accompany Arthur on his journey and none of their lives will ever be quiet or simple or safe again.... This is my first upload on a site like this and i would just like to get some fed back. I write a lot, this ones kinda like a side story. I'm going to admit I always feel rather stupid when my friends read my stuff because I'm always sure its awful and they just aren't going to tell me so this seemed the best way to get some more honest fed back. always looking for advice if anyone is willing to give it. Thank you for reading this (if anyone actually does) comments and suggestions would be much appreciated and any stories that you would recommended i read :) Thanks RomanHobbit

❝ The future was yet to be written, uncertain in every way except one: there will be fire. When the dawn closed her eyes, she awoke in flames-a hellfire inferno burning as leaves on briar-thicket trees. A forest of thorns alight. A vision of the future yet to pass. Though she could run, she could not hide from the black magic dirge humming within her veins, and she could not escape it. No power on earth can change it, maleficence whispered. Tomes of antiquity spoke of the lone cure for such an ailment: an act of true love in its purest form-a treasure many would lay waste to a thousand armies to possess, a divine gift the poets of old bled sonnets in the name of. True love conquers all, they once wrote. But the shadows would not free her so easily, and as the dawn would come to see, not even the power of true love would be enough to grant her salvation.❞ 〔 arthur pendragon x aurora lothbrok 〕

She must use all of what she has been taught to become the Queen her new husband, the court and the people expect her to be. She must learn how to rule alongside Arthur, produce an heir and learn who and who not to trust. In order to do this she must find a strength within her she does not yet know as being married to the greatest King in England comes with many occupational and personal challenges. Along with suffering from the aftermath of being ambushed by bandits on their way to Camelot, Guinevere quickly learns that there is little room for weakness and fear in Camelot's court. Vowing to never be caught in another similar position, she enlists the help of the only other person aside from Arthur that she trusts - Lancelot. Guinevere is determined to be a fearless, loyal and confident Queen, able to balance her obligations to Camelot as well as her life with Arthur. But sometimes determination is not enough when both the heart and circumstance work against her. (First draft) _____________________________________________________________________________ *This is a fictional tale, based loosely on 'fact' from legends and existing stories. My aim was to write from the perspective of Guinevere, to add some depth to the tales. I have embellished quite a lot, so quests and battles may not be in the correct order and characters may be construed a little differently, but I hope to capture the turmoil and doomed relationships in my story. I wanted to explore the possible reality of the legend from an empathic point of view, to explore the emotions and difficulties that my protagonist may have actually felt in her position.
