She considered all the rag-tag, "street rats" her brothers and welcomed them with open arms when the were new. Though, she always had a special place in her heart for Jack Kelly. He was her best friend and the only boy she has ever had a crush on. When her Grandfather becomes sick and needs help at the lodge house, she is the first to volunteer. Not like anyone else would go. Her two older brothers were so caught up in their perfect South Hampton life style, they gave no thought to their grandfather. Plus, this is the start of an adventure Mia had always dreamt of, for she was not content with her "perfect" life. She wanted more. She wanted to learn, live, and love. But, it has been so long since the newsies have seen Mia, that they don't even recognize her.
