With a heart full of guilt and self shame you went rogue and swore to bring down Odin for his crimes against humanity. In this story I decided to say that Senketsu did in fact burn up on the way down from space however he didn't fully incinerate, One tear of him survived and Ryuko wears him as a scarf/bandana much like she did when Nui cut him into shreds.
