Después de liberar a Christine, Erik decide ir a morir en el bosque. Se queda múltiples días sin comer o beber. Débil, se pone una máscara por si alguien encuentra su cuerpo y cae desmallado y casi muerto. Una joven inglesa de 22 años llamada Alaska termina por encontrar al musico y se lo lleva a su casa sin quitarle la máscara por respetar su privacidad. Lo ubica en él cuarto de su ex pareja quien la había dejado con el corazón tan roto como el de Erik ya que la había engañado y usado solo por su dinero. Ella comienza a practicar unas viejas lecciones de piano y Erik sin soportar que la musica sea tocada inexpertamente despierta y comienza a corregirla. Desde el momento en que ella termina de tocar y voltea a ver sus ojos, sin saberlo, ella queda totalmente enamorada de él. Ella le ofrece quedarse ahí y el sin poder rechazar quedarse en casa de una mujer burguesa el acepta y le pregunta que quisiera a cambio. Ella solo le responde que lecciones de piano. "Cual es su nombre monsieur?" "Para ti, no seré mas que una idea, para ti no tengo un nombre"
