An alternate universe fan fiction based on the characters belonging to CL Stone's Ghost Bird Academy series. Sang Sorenson, a highly driven and focused college student, begins to discover there is more to life than working hard and getting ahead. She is determined to succeed and doggedly pursues her dreams. She starts meeting some guys, who begin to pursue her like dogs on a hunt. Will she be able to hold them off so she can obtain her goal? Does she even want to? Or will she discover her goal is pointless if she has no one to share it with?

Sang Sorenson is permanently broken beyond repair. She's abused, beaten and neglected daily in her own home. To make matters worse, she's in the deepest part of depression and she knows there's no way out. Her only solution: death. She will finally be at peace and be truly happy for once in her miserable life. She planned out her suicide thoughtfully for months. She decided that it was only fair that at least someone who doesn't know her should find out why she did it. It has to be a stranger. She doesn't have any friends. Never did, actually. She starts leaving one note daily in her neighbor's bedroom. She gives him more clues and more of the story every day. The final letter will be delivered the morning of the day her life will end.

This story is the fanfiction version of In The Shadows written by the amazing Katydids. It is now an original, with a completed first book and the beginning of a second. While the fanfic version is similar to her original with some of the characters and basic plot, not everything is the same. Katy is graciously allowing me to post this here. When Sang's father dies, she and her mother move away to her grandparents. There she meets a group of guys that live down the road who are so much more than they seem. Soon, Sang's world is rocked with a revelation that changes all she's every known about herself and her family. And with this revelation comes a danger that she may not be equipped to deal with.
