A year after her best friend committed suicide without warning, Rosalie Hayes was still tumbling down a toxic downward spiral that, as far as anyone could tell, didn't seem to have a bottom. The simple girl she had once been was a mere memory, shredded to pieces and buried alongside her best friend, and in its place was a girl who took refuge in absolutely anything she could to distract herself from the gaping hole her best friend had left inside her and dull the pain that haunted her every move. Death came like a thief, stealing Rosalie's life and sending it up in flames before letting out her demons lurking inside. Until a boy with a reputation just as infamous and a track record to match takes interest in the silently broken girl. And together, the two might find that grief doesn't have to completely destroy you if you only have someone to share it with. TRIGGER WARNING: As stated above, this story does deal with suicide and grief. COVER CREDIT: @urharry

{HIATUS} "I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together." ~Lisa Kleypas When your father is the town mayor public image is everything. I, Lacey Carter, have been taught this since I could understand the concept. So no one can know that I'm actually failing math or the loving smiles my parents plaster on when in the public eye are about as real as the Barbies I played with when I was in first grade. And absolutely no one can know that my mom caught my dad screwing some random girl last year who couldn't have been much older than my 19-year-old sister. Let's just say that if anybody knew that my family's acting skills could rival Hollywood's A-listers, we'd be in some serious trouble. So when my dad hires a new police chief and he has a son exactly my age, I'm supposed to get along just swimmingly with him. It hardly matters that I happen to hate his cocky, over-confident, and supposed bad boy personality. It hardly matters that I can't stand the fact that his dashing good looks have girls drooling at his feet. I'm supposed to just suck it up, plaster on that all-too-familiar fake smile and pretend that I have nothing against the cocky bastard, because that's what perfect girls do, and I'm the perfect girl, remember?
