Lux Brumalis: "The light of winter"/"Winter's light." After defeating the Flag Smashers and conquering his inner demons, Bucky is trying to live a quiet life in New York City. While being Cap's sidekick has brought him (mostly unwanted) fame and attention, Bucky is learning that fame is difficult and scary. It also doesn't pay the bills, and he needs a roommate. So, he puts out an ad on Craigslist hoping for someone who isn't a complete weirdo. After many unsuccessful candidates, he finally stumbles across Charlotte, a PhD student who is looking for a fresh start after her failed engagement as she recovers from the Blip. Feelings begin to blossom between the two, but their lives are soon thrown into turmoil when a series of mysterious and vicious murders send New York City hurtling into a state of paranoia and fear. This will be a somewhat slow burn, with lots of tension, eventual strangers to friends, and friends to lovers with a lot of angst thrown into the mix. Set six months the events of TFATWS. HOWEVER, THIS FIC IS NOT CANON COMPLIANT with the MCU, the comics, or anything like that despite being set in canon. I'm going to mess with things, retcon things, and play with details because it's fun.

Mia Connors is a new recruit at the Avengers campus as she's learning the ropes of being on the team, and using her newly discovered powers. She seems to be connecting with all of the other members except for one. Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America can't seem to get far enough away from her, and Mia has no idea why. What she does know is that, despite his apparent disdain for her, she can't help but get flustered just being around him. But even if he didn't hate her, Tony Stark has a strict no dating policy between Avengers members, so any fantasy she has of Steve Rogers dies twice. Can Mia learn to live with feelings for a man who she can't have, or will it lead to her downfall and get her kicked out of the Avengers. Obviously I do not own any of the marvel characters!
