Midoriya Izuku often lays awake at night, thinking, tracing the outline of the mark that determines who his soulmate is. (Todoroki Shouto does the same thing, but Midoriya is completely unaware of this.)

When you are 10 you get a mark on your opposing wrist ( if you left handed its on your right, if right handed then left hand, ambidextrous then it depends on which one you use more ). The marks are usually something symbolizes your soulmate and their quirk, the more detailed and complex the mark, the more 'baggage' they have. It is considered good to have a simplistic mark, despite how beautiful the complicated ones are. When in the presence of your soul mate your mark will glow. This is slightly AUish. There are still quirks but no "superheroes".
