I shouldn't have been walking around alone at night. I shouldn't have stopped and watch the obviously crazy man set the building on fire. And I sure of hell shouldn't have accidentally caught his attention. Then maybe, just maybe I wouldn't have been kidnapped by the world's most evil super villain. And then hopefully right now I wouldn't be wishing that he wasn't completely crazy, and wanted to kill every super hero in the world, and that he would, I don't know, take me to the movies, hold my hand as we walked together, or maybe take me to dinner one night. You know normal, cute couple stuff. Instead he likes to kick puppies when no ones watching, dropping me from high buildings, and throwing people into traffic, annoyingly. Maybe if I had just minded my own business and kept walking, maybe I wouldn't have been taken by someone who's whole mission in life is to watch every super die, and cackle evilly while he thinks of it. Maybe if I had just minded my own business and kept walking, maybe I wouldn't start feeling bad for this super villain. Maybe I wouldn't be questioning everything I've ever learned about him. And God forbid, I wouldn't be loving a villain.

Today, he's a high school dropout with no future. Tomorrow, he's a soldier in World War II. Kale Jackson has spent years trying to control his time-traveling ability but hasn't had much luck. One day he lives in 1945, fighting in the war as a sharpshooter and helplessly watching soldiers-friends-die. Then the next day, he's back in the present, where WWII has bled into his modern life in the form of PTSD, straining his relationship with his father and the few friends he has left. Every day it becomes harder to hide his battle wounds, both physical and mental, from the past. When the ex-girl-next-door, Harper, moves back to town, thoughts of what could be if only he had a normal life begin to haunt him. Harper reminds him of the person he was before the PTSD, which helps anchor him to the present. With practice, maybe Kale could remain in the present permanently and never step foot on a battlefield again. Maybe he can have the normal life he craves. But then Harper finds Kale's name in a historical article-and he's listed as a casualty of the war. Kale knows now that he must learn to control his time-traveling ability to save himself and his chance at a life with Harper. Otherwise, he'll be killed in a time where he doesn't belong by a bullet that was never meant for him.

Sam is the most promising swordsman among this year’s crop of Paladin trainees...and knows it. Brash, cocky, and unbeatable with a sword (well, almost), Sam is the kingdom of Thule’s best hope against the violence wrought by demons. The only problem is that Sam is really Lady Samantha, daughter of the seventeenth Duke of Haywood, and if her father has his way, she’ll be marrying a Paladin, not becoming one. But Sam has never held much interest in playing damsel-in-distress, and so she rescues herself from a lifetime of boredom and matrimonial drudgery. Pity that Tristan Lyons, the Paladin assigned to train her, is none other than the hero of her childhood. He hasn’t recognized her as Lady Samantha--yet-- but if he does, he’ll take away her sword and send her packing. Sam is not the only trainee hiding secrets: Braeden is a half-demon with a dark past that might be unforgivable. Sam, Braeden and Tristan set out for the western coast, charged with rooting out an infestation of demons that has made the West unlivable. As they travel, they uncover a deep-seated corruption of power that threatens to derail everything they stand for. Rebellion stirs, led by a rival faction of warriors who tempt Sam to join them with an irresistible offer. A war between men is coming, and Sam must pick a side. Will saving the kingdom cost her life -- or just her heart? Reminiscent of Mulan, but with a medieval fantasy twist, Paladin is a tale of adventure, action, and romance.

He was the most popular guy in school. I was the person people generally thought was weird. Why? Because in fourth grade my little brother put gum in my hair and I came to school sporting a fancy new buzz cut and that was only the beginning. Let me get something straight right now. This isn't some cliche story about how the popular boy falls in love with the nerd weirdo. This is not a story about how much we hate each and how we somehow fall in love. The two of us have never been secret friends or friends at all for that matter. He didn't have some gigantic secret and for some strange reason decided to tell a me, a random stranger. The truth is we don't even know each other. We've never even officially met. So then why does he even matter, you ask? He doesn't, not really. His idiot brained actions do. You see my school has this little tradition. Once a year, on the night before the homecoming dance, the newly selected foot ball team, would take it upon themselves to choose the least liked student. Said student would then be kidnapped by the football team, removed of most of their clothes, and placed on the school roof. The only door would be locked and the unlucky student would be trapped, practically naked until morning when the rest of the school would arrive to witness their shame. And, it just so happens that this year Mr. Popular was the football captain. How do I fit into this story you ask? Well, it's quite simple actually, earlier that day, the day the football team decided on this years' victim, I might have accidentally tripped and spilled my lunch on Mr. Popular and his new Captain's jacket making me a prime target. But the night didn't end there. It got so much worse. *There is more to the description. If your interested the full version in the first chapter. If I get a few good responses I'll continue this story.*
