Maura Isles finds herself dealing with two cases, one on homicide, and one on her own feelings. When a young male is killed, Maura must work with Jane and the rest of BPD to help find the murderer, and bring justice to Boston. In the middle of it all, Maura starts to think of Jane as more than just her best friend. But how can she let Jane know without putting their friendship and job on the line? How will Jane react?
