However, when new student, Frank Iero, comes to town, Gerard's world is turned upside down. Frank promises to look after Gerard but it's a harder job than he had anticipated.

Gerard is barely surviving until a new neighbor moves in next door, and for the first time in ages, Gerard finds himself with a friend that isn't his little brother. Gerard never imagined that one beautiful boy could change everything for him, but he can't ignore the way Frank makes him feel, or the improvements he has seen in himself. Gerard is aware that he is falling in love with Frank even though he knows it is wrong...he is seventeen while Frank is only thirteen. Then his life was pretty much threatened by one of the most dangerous kids in school. Gerard got mad easily-and when he got mad, you would fear for your life (well, probably not literally) but he was dangerous and got mad easily and all the time. Maybe it got out of hand when he wound up putting an innocent kid in the hospital almost killing him. Everyone scared of Gerard. Except maybe one kid. Tyler is a Catholic who's family is loving, but very sensitive when it comes to Catholicism. Josh is an atheist who's family is very strict, and they hate him for his sinful nature, promising his soul will be sent away to Purgatory. When Tyler meets him for the first time at Catholic Mass, he is determined to help him believe in the Lord. But it will not be easy.

Frank can't handle talking to people without being struck with a panic attack. The only people he can talk to are his best friend, Mikey Way, and his mom. Ever since Frank was young, he's had a crush on Mikey's brother, Gerard, but his anxiety has kept him from ever doing anything about it. He also discovers that there's more than one person living in Gerard's body as a result of all the painful memories he endured in the past.
