The Wandering Vessel
Anaxileah
Dragons are a rarity, hiding away from the commonfolk on a distant island concealed by mists, their villages safely out of reach. Dragons, rumored to be vicious due to their greed and rage are not nearly as murderous as most claim, living peacefully and working with one another to maintain their pure way of life. Each dragon has a part of their bodies that hold their connections to their bestial forms - it may be a fang, a claw, or an internal part of their bodies, such as a particular organ or a shard of pure, magical energy. As dragons begin maturing, they yearn to leave the small confines of their villages, eager to see the world, unaware of its ruthless, coldhearted dangers. As a coming-of-age tradition, a young dragon is permitted to explore with a chaperone, seeing humans for what they truly are before returning to their home, all drive to interact with the humans lost.
Lauricia, the only daughter of the silvery-white moon dragons, is having her coming-of-age ceremony with her mother as her guide as she witnesses the outside world for the first time. Reluctant to leave the comforts of her home, the trip began begrudgingly, an argument forming between the younger dragon and her mother. However, before it could be resolved, a sudden storm hit, separating Lauricia from her mother and careening her into a human village, crashing at the center. She was alone, and amidst the monsters of the outside world, she was vulnerable.
Awaking in a cold, dark place, Lauricia would come to realize two things: her source of power, located in her horn, was missing, and she had the appearance of the monsters that held her. A scream escaped her lips, drowning out the snickers and snide remarks that threatened the shackled dragon. She needed her power back, and would do anything to get it.
