A young warrior with a deadly spell carved into her heart goes on a journey to find the person who planted the mysterious curse on her as a child, before it kills her and potentially, everyone in the world.
***
After ten years shrouded in mysterious clouds of ash, the mysterious Nation of The Priestesses rises from the mist. In an effort to claim it, a three way war between empires, rebels and mercenaries throws the world to chaos, a deadly shadow spreads across the land. Ada, a wandering mage and descendant of the people of the nation goes on a journey to purify temples across the world in an effort to stop the war.
But she has a more personal reason. She shouldn't be able to use magic, only priestesses and people who are willing to give up their life energy can. So why has she been able to use it her whole life? A mysterious rune on her chest that was carved onto her chest might be the clue to why, but she needs to find out who carved it on her as a child, and what its true nature is...
Fragments of Ash is as much of a journey to find the self as it is a journey to save the planet. Ada's battle against the world is one that she, and the rest of the cast, can only win when she resolves a dark conflict hidden within herself. One that holds the secret as to why her nation fell all those years ago...
This novel is a mix of fantasy and soft-science fiction. The industrial setting and international scope, covering countries like reminiscent of Germany, China and Italy, should hopefully add a flavour to the story that makes it unique.
For the sake of ease of consumption I've turned the 30-something chapter novel into a multi-volume release too, with scenes in chapters broken into mini-chapters. Enjoy!
