After a horrible accident, Phil loses his sight and goes completely blind. On the last day of school Dans friends invite him along to a summer camp so the three of them can enjoy the three months of summer vacation away from their small town. Dan agrees, mainly to get away from a particular bully, Phil Lester, who seems to be set out for him and only him until he realizes, Phil is at camp too. Against Dans deepest desire to return to their small town, he stays, and prepares for the longest summer of his lifetime.
