Wrong place, wrong time. That's the phrase that seemed to define Xarene's life. The drow had made their way from the Underdark in the hopes of finding a living, growing tired of their life begging and stealing. In what felt like mere moments after picking up another contract as a monster hunter, they went from the life they knew to something much more dangerous. Made an unwilling host to a mind flayer's tadpole, Xarene has to fight against time to find a cure. Not just for themselves, but for others they encountered along the way... (I only own Xarene and Lanrel, Baldur's Gate III belongs to Larain Studios and Wizards of the Coast. Millirana belongs to @starrlilyyyy. Cover may be updated, still gathering screenshots of Xarene)

Though deemed power-hungry and warmongering by those fortunate enough to live outside of its rule, to Gaia Machina, it was home. Well, "home" was a stretch. Initially planned to be an espionage unit more akin to an android than her MT brethren, budget limitations reduced Gaia to just another pawn used for more destruction. That was, until a chance fight outside of Insomnia, Lucis's capital, gave her the opportunity she needed for her own freedom. She was finally able to make her own choice: to take her own side and forge her own path- a path of redemption. Throwing caution to the wind and hiding her magitek nature, she set off to join Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum in finally bringing an end to Niflheim's destruction. However, walls eventually crumble, no matter what. Her act can only be held up for so long before her new friends realize she isn't exactly the hunter she claimed to be. It also seemed that fate had more in store for the rogue magitek than just helping the Chosen King fulfill his destiny. Reminders of her past, brought into a new light by her choices in the present. Gaia certainly wasn't programmed for this. (I do not own Final Fantasy XV, I only own Gaia Machina) ~~~ Highest Ranks: #16 in "final" (12/10/2025, out of 15.9k stories) #76 in "finalfantasy" (2/14/2022, out of 2.6k stories) #170 in "ocxcanon" (1/11/2022, out of 4.4k stories) #35 in "ffxv" (10/28/2025, out of 1.28k stories) #1 in "ff15" (12/7/2022, out of 204 stories)
