A stranger to her own existence, Kayla moves to a small town with the hope of finding comfort in a fresh start. But as she steps inside the unfamiliar classroom on the first day, standing in front of the class is a mysteriously familiar face, one that rouses memories of a time she believed had gone by. With past baggage catching up in the most intrusive ways, she stumbles upon unexpected pleasures -- comfort of new friendships, rekindling of old ones frayed by time and circumstance, unconditional love of found family, and a beautiful yet complicated bond between two hesitant souls. ────── "This book was like a warm hug, and I might believe in love again." "I would give everything, especially my soul, to have the opportunity to read this book for the first time again." "You perfectly portraying every emotion, even causing everything to come to life in my thoughts so vividly on a level I assumed was impossible, actually blows my mind." "This book has ruined Wattpad forever for me because everything else seems too plain now, too shallow." ────── CW: Drug abuse, harsh language, sexual content, mention of self-harm, mention of suicide. ────── Started in January 2018. Re-published in November 2022. First draft finished in April 2023.

"Those around you are not afraid of loving, so why are you? Why do you deny yourself the opportunity to love? To love without fear, without shame and with all of your heart. Let hateful words make your skin thicker, don't allow their opinions and beliefs to change who you are. Love her, him, love both or neither, love whoever but accept yourself as you are. Don't be afraid. There's no shame in loving." Nina Da Sousa is on a journey to find herself, to accept herself and to learn how to love and to communicate.

⚠️ Very important ⚠️ !!! This is a re-upload; I did NOT write this book. The author deleted their account. A brainy, awkward young American moves to England to attend Oxford University. She befriends a much older (historically heterosexual) female English professor. Over the years, their relationship evolves from one of protective friendship to something romantic, highlighting the difficulties and joys of age gap, lesbian relationships. 1,914 pages. (I'm not sure if this would count as Mature or not- it's borderline in some places later on, so I'm marking it so, just in case. It's certainly not HBO in here.) Please read the first chapter!! If the author will contact me, I'll delete the book immediately!! Author: BlakeVBurton

"Are you... lost?" Someone asked, her tone impatient. I stopped scanning the room to find the woman behind the voice. I blinked. She had the most luminous blue eyes I had ever seen. Even in the dim glow of the bar they glowed brightly, like her pupils were some type of smooth stone at the bottom of a clear blue ocean. Within her blue there flickered tiny speckles of silver, which gave her an icy, somewhat stony appeal. But it was her slight, lopsided smile that erased any signs of wanting to be alone. No wonder this bar was so popular. "Uh, no," I said, holding up the Help Wanted sign I had snagged from the front window. The woman's cool eyes flickered between the sign and me. She didn't say anything, only looked slightly thoughtful as slender fingers raked through her long blonde hair. "What can you do?" She finally asked, definitely not expecting me to be able to do much of anything at all. She'd be right. "Anything and everything," I answered-lied-instantly, hoping I didn't look too desperate, didn't sound too eager. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't worked a day in my life. My hands were used to weekly manicures not hard labor. But desperate times call for desperate measures. The blonde appeared thoughtful again. Those magnificent eyes gave me a once over, slow and steady. You could see the cogs turning in her head as she considered it. I decided to try and sound more convincing. "I have many skills," I added. Okay, so I stole that from Xena, but I was hoping it worked as well for me as it did for her. The blonde lifted a sculpted brow and the smile was, once again, back on her lips. She seemed amused. Maybe she was a Xena fan? "Alright... I'll start you off cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping the floors, doing the dishes..." Crap.

After a particularly terrible experience with her adoptive father and a few drinks, Rebecca Harrison finds her much-needed escape from reality in her soon-to-be biology teacher. When the two meet again at the beginning of the school year, neither know what to make of the situation. But their conflict with each other is no match for the conflict Rebecca faces with her adoptive father, and the two soon find themselves developing a relationship that tests both of their willingness to let others in. For entirely different reasons, they find themselves pushing each other away. Until they realize that their reasons aren't so different at all. This story is girlxgirl, teacherxstudent, and it deals with topics such as abuse, alcoholism, and suicide. It's my best work but it can be depressing at times & may be triggering to some. [Editing on-going, Sequel - TBD]
