Navazuje na Šarlatového hada. Harry a Draco jsou spolu a snaží se být šťastní. V cestě jim ale stojí blížící se válka, která s sebou přináší spoustu nebezpečí a utrpení. Když se do toho ještě přidá špetka mezikolejní nenávisti, nedůvěry a předstírání, je zaděláno na pořádné problémy. Aby to nebylo málo, bradavický profesor lektvarů je velice všímavý.
