I've hidden behind the lens of a camera since I was seven years old. My Mom dying turned me into a shell of a person; I stopped speaking, I hid behind fake glasses, my hair and baggy clothes. I let my father move us around, never asking questions when he would disappear for days at a time from the time I turned thirteen. The only thing that my father did that ever got the rare smile from me was when my birthday came around and he brought me a camera every year. The camera was my security blanket, another eye that I used to see things through, another way to observe even as I pressed that shutter button. Moving to a new town, a new school never fazed me; I never purposely drew attention to myself. I hid behind the camera, like I always did and that was when I started capturing them just like they started capturing my heart. *This is a work of Fanfiction based on C.L Stones Ghost Bird and Scarab Beetle Series'. Sang's father walked out on them less than a year after they moved to Charleston and she is left with her irresponsible older sister and mentally unstable mother. Since her mother is too sick to work she charges Sang rent each week. Due to her mother's demand that she be home by five every day, it is impossible for her to continue high school. It's not easy to find a job when your a high school drop out, are technically a minor and don't have any valid identification. She often has to resort to pickpocketing to make ends meet. What will happen when this catches the attention of the Academy and the Toma Team are brought in to handle it. The story is meant to examine what it would be like if Sang was the main character of the Scarab Beetle series, both the Scarab Beetle and Ghost Bird series belong to C. L. Stone.

One year. Probably. That's how long it's been, right? Sang Sorenson doesn't know. She's lost track of how long it's been since her parents sold her. No matter how long she's been there, Sang knows her time is running out. She knows what happens to the other angels who are trapped in the facility. She knows it's almost her turn to die a horrible death. And then nine new faces join the staff.

Tonight is the first time Sang has dared to go to a high school party. It's also the first opportunity seven Academy boys find to follow up a lead for their new Ashley Waters mission. The last thing they each remember is being at one of Rocky's famous post-game parties, though no one recalls leaving. There's no way out, and no explanation. A strict set of rules are soon enforced, and they're being watched. Noncompliance is met with severe punishments. When things get tough, will greed, fear and self-interest overrule cooperation and peace, or will the group band together?
