"Why do you care if I'm mad or not?" It was the only thing I cared about knowing at this point. "You're smart King. You figure it out." Ace Carter was bad news and so were his friends. Luckily, I stayed away from him, his friends and all their drama. It was easy enough, being invisible and all. ••• But Ace noticed me one day. That day changed Ace and me. He wanted a favor and that deed was to pretend to be his girlfriend for three weeks, at most. ••• There was no way in hell I could ever like the guy, even though he was smoking hot, and seemingly sweet, so I agreed. ••• The more I got to know Ace, the more I realized he wasn't just a bad boy or a player. He was sweet and caring. ••• But I wasn't sure I was ready for the feelings being around Ace incurred from me. But something told me Ace would fight until he got me to want him back.

"How could you do this to me?" I all but shouted. He flinched. "I'm sorry." "You can take your sorry and shove it where the sun doesn't shine for all I care. We are done." I shot back, pointing a trembling finger at him. My whole body vibrated with the need to slap him silly for what he'd done but I didn't want to create more of a scene than I already had. Deciding that he wasn't worth another minute of my time, I shook my head at him and pivoted on my heel, ready to leave. He held my elbow to stop me from going. "I'm sorry. Please don't go. I'd do anything to make it up to you. Anything." The raw pain in his voice stopped me in my tracks. As angry as I was, I wasn't completely immune to his charms. And that's exactly was he was doing. Using sweet nothings to coax me into staying. Looking back on things, I realized it was what he'd always done. But not anymore. Steeling my spine, I wrenched my hand away from him. Without turning around, I said, "If I really was that important to you, you wouldn't have broken my trust as if it were nothing." *** Falling for your best friend's boyfriend is considered a crime. And you'd probably burn in hell for an eternity for it. But what if the best friend isn't all you'd thought she was? What if her boyfriend is so damn charming that you just can't help but fall for him? Is it justified then? No? Read to find out.
