Steve and Bucky have been best friends since before the second World War. However, when Bucky fell off a train during a mission, he was captured and brainwashed by Hydra leaving him with little to no memories about his past. Steve, on the otherhand, crashed an airplane full of explosives to save a lot of people's lives and put himself in suspended animation in ice as a result. Seventy years later, both were found, Steve still hailed as a hero and Bucky feared as an assassin named The Winter Soldier. S.H.I.E.L.D eventually caught Bucky and, with some help from their new friends in Wakanda who had aided in the capture of The Winter Soldier, rehabilitated and reintegrated him back into a semi normal life with Steve. However, Bucky remembers most of his past, every man, woman, and child he's ever killed haunts his dreams. Steve tries his best to make his best friend feel better by waking him up from nightmares and spending as much time as he can with him to make him feel loved and wanted. Little do many know, both men have had feelings brewing for each other since the 40s, but both are too afraid of rejection, judgement, intimacy, or losing each other.
