Cardigan had given up surfboarding. It was such a childish sport now, in a world of constant change. High school had overcome him, leaving him stressed and guilty. One warm summer night, he took a walk down to the Pacific, the wild blue ocean, to the beach. Heading for the sea, with his dusty surfboard in tow.
