Ide is the third-born princess of the isolated, rigidly superstitious kingdom of Abfhaenn, where tradition is worshipped and change is feared. Her secret? An enchanted ring, left to her by her late mother, which renders its wearer invisible when turned counter-clockwise. It's a dream come true for Ide, an awkward spare heir whose greatest wish is to disappear. But the king of the valley is dead, and the throne is perilously near the grasp of the last person who should take it: his spurned younger brother, the glitteringly charismatic Lord Graeme, who will stop at nothing to take back what he's owed. The last thing Ide wants to do is draw attention to herself, but when her mother died, she left behind a mystery that only Ide could possibly solve. With the aid of a mysterious alley cat and an irritatingly dreamy stable hand, she's forced to realize that the ring might be the key to stopping Graeme - but taking action means being seen, and failure comes at a fatal cost.

"Nuclear weapons? They could be shut down by the mechanical bomb. AI? No one's going to be touching that subject with a ten-foot pole. But they've decided that having fire-breathing kids would be an acceptable replacement for an army. And that's where energie came in." From two sleep-deprived students, comes a story written from two completely different perspectives... Who's Robin? She's: Just a small town girl. Living in a harist world. She took the midnight train going to Mist-i-fuse. Ba Dum (drum sound effects) (Read to find out what Mistifuse and harism is) You'll thank me later. Probably. Who's Ari? She's: Living in a world where trust can't keep a grip on the slippery slope called life, where discrimination rules the world with the light-haired versus the dark. It's a game that no one can win in the end, but they still fight, friend against friend, power against power. And fight they do, until right can no longer be separated from wrong... as if it could ever be in the first place.

With the kingdom finally free of Commander Vang's clutches and the towers abolished, everything seems to finally have been set right. Melody's coronation is to be held soon; the kingdom is in capable hands. Bird and her companions, meanwhile, journey to the sea as they finally set out for their home in the High North. But not all is right with the world. Terrible rumors of fire and magic begin to surface, and it isn't long before Bird realizes that she, and everyone she cares about, is in grave danger. The ghosts of her pasts are rising anew, and Bird must struggle with lies, heartbreak, and her love for a certain young wizard in order to keep her already damaged world from falling apart entirely.

"Our kingdom was once beautiful, but now the towers are everywhere. They say that Queen Rapunzel has lost her mind--and I believe them. Before, I might have felt sorry for her, but now I just fear her. I fear the sound of her soldiers pounding at the door, demanding that I be taken away. I fear the towers." Years after the original tale of Rapunzel took place, the kingdom--left to the grief-stricken Queen after her husband's death--is falling apart. People live in constant fear of the many terrible towers across the land, built by her Majesty's decree to imprison any who dare question her. Bird's nothing but a girl from the north, but when someone she cares about is taken by the mad Queen's soldiers, she'll stop at nothing to save them. With nothing but her friends, a sled, and a mind full of songs, she sets out to get rid of the towers, once and for all. DISCLAIMER: this is a retelling of the *ORIGINAL FAIRY TALE* by the Brothers Grimm and has no connection to Disney's version whatsoever. DISCLAIMER PART II: I wrote this book when I was 15 and am still in the middle of huge revisions that I haven't posted here yet! Please feel free to read, but keep in mind this is a work in progress. :)
