☆Highest Rating: #535 in HF!☆ A retelling of the Pacific front... with a twist. He knew many things. He knew when planes started flying, he had seen every president walk off to the stand. He had felt the toils of Civil War. And he was a Nation. A winged being bound to a people, a culture, a land. And to him, it was everything. He believed he was there for a reason, and he was proud of it. He had been doing his best for the past two, almost three centuries to help his people along. Some sort of angel, someone would say, and he would just smile and shake his head. He had screwed up sometimes. Sometimes very badly. As of the early 1930s, his friends are coming out of where they had been hiding, and other Nations are becoming aggressive, both in their influences and their words. The most recent Summit of Nations ended badly. Once again, the winged people are tearing each other apart heart and soul. For the beginning of it, Alfred avoids conflict. He helps where he can, propping up others when they need it, and showing up to offer support. But he doesn't stay. He doesn't want a repeat of the Great War. This want is vain. Alfred had been growing impatient with Kiku Honda, the Japanese Nation, for a while. He had surely heard what was happening. But the events of Pearl Harbor threw him and his people into a frenzy. The urge to fight became overhearing, and so he gathered arms. Alfred wanted to fight. Even so, the fight will be difficult. He has known loss, though not as sudden and widespread as this. His human colleagues, his citizens, are falling left and right, and he begins to feel very, very small. He must remember that Nations drive the course of history. He just can't mess up. (☆Rating last confirmed: 7/4/17) ((Sequel to Metal Birds. Can be read as stand alone.)) ((Wingtalia, based on concepts by Hidakez Himaruya, OOC))
