Not all people are brave. Not all people have the capacity to defy powers greater themselves. These people may be called weak and in some cases, they may even be called cowards. When presented with a choice, they usually choose the wrong option and that will always have them looking behind their backs. However, sometimes, these people are offered a second chance to redeem themselves. Peter Pettigrew is one such person whose choice triggered a chain of events that destroyed the lives of many. Upon his death, he is presented with a choice. A choice to redeem himself. Will he choose the same path as he chose then? Or will he prove to the world that sometimes, even cowards can be brave. A short story set in the Harry Potter Universe.

Fear. That's all. People all over the world were living their life in constant fear. Ever since Lord Voldemort succeeded in killing Harry Potter in 1998 the world was a complete mess. People were killed randomly, wizards and muggles alike. The world had nothing of its former beauty. The flowers were not blooming, the trees were all dead. Whole cities were nothing more than ruins and smoke. The sky was always the same colour, no one could tell whether it was day or night by looking at the solid black mass above their heads. In the midst of that, there was a small group who fought against Voldemort. They still tried to find a way to kill The Dark Lord and return life to this planet. A small group of people, who managed to survive the battle of Hogwarts were hiding in their hidden headquarters making plans. All they had were the few selected members of what formerly was the Order of the Phoenix and a flicker of hope, no matter how small it was. Even after 3 years, they had that little spark that kept them going.

After the war, Petunia Dursley finds that Hogsmeade is a far cry from Little Whinging when she takes refuge in the Three Broomsticks. The second wizarding war is finally over. Voldemort is defeated and his death eaters either dead or sentenced to life in Azkaban. Despite the many deaths the order of the phoenix has to mourn, a bit of normality returns to the lives of those who survived. Hogwarts has been rebuilt and now Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny are riding the train back there on September 1st, 1998. Will their last year finally be a peaceful one?
