"How did we go from pretending we're in love, to you actually falling head over heels for me?" Cara cocked her head as she studied him. This boy will be the death of her. "W-whoa whoa whoa, head over heels?" Darius raised his hands in mock defeat. He was perfectly aware of how serious she was, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity to tease her. "What do you see in me? Why are you so nice to me? Hell, I kicked you in the nuts." Cara pressed further. "Nobody should be this perfect," her voice lowered to a soft whisper. Darius took a step towards her, closing the distance between them. He tipped her chin up to meet her gaze. "Then I guess you haven't met the right person." "Until now." He pressed his lips to hers. It was an age old marriage of convenience between them - Darius Alexander Clemonte, the sexy, playful millionaire who has to shed his playboy image to protect his legacy; Cara Jefferson, the daughter of a struggling businessman who happened to be a convenient family friend of the Clemonte's. They should be opposed to the idea of each other... except Cara, the girl who doesn't believe in love, drives Darius wild. In a good way. WARNING: This story contains mature scenes.

Forty-three years ago, the humans discovered that we existed. All of their spooky bedtime stories about werewolves, vampires, and fairies suddenly became real as supernaturals of all kinds began emerging from the darkness and walked out into the open. Instead of welcoming us with open arms, they went batshit crazy. Like burning down buildings and destroying families batshit crazy. Soon, supernaturals fled and tried to go back into hiding, but at that point things were already spiraling out of control. Our neighbors became suspicious, our identities were compromised. And the next thing we knew, our family was being torn apart. Our father was taken by an organization called The Shadows. The Shadows kidnap supernatural beings and experiment on us to discover our secrets and morph them into something unnatural. Our mother was murdered in front of our eyes. And it didn't take long for the rest of the world to catch fire. The thing that kills me the most is that we've literally been living amongst humans for centuries. If we wanted to kill you, I'm pretty sure you'd be dead by now. You know what I mean? But I guess that's just not the world we live in. My siblings and I have been blending in with the humans for the past eleven years, just waiting for an opportunity to arise where we can take back what's ours. We're going to find our father. And then we're going to kill every last one of The Shadows until they're nothing but a fading memory.
