Her past wasn't gentle let alone her present. From an orphan, to an ingenue, to an autonomous woman. Amidst chaos, her life was a complex mix of affliction, misery and bittersweet serendipity. .. The Rising Girls is a gripping mystery thriller that follows the story of Maimunah, an orphan who becomes embroiled in a life of hardship. As she navigates the dark tunnels of Dutse, a town that held secrets and she finds herself trapped in resilience to uncover the truth and determination to survive the shackles of oppression. ... "What is your name?". The tattered looking Captain asked Maimunah. With his yellow stained teeth and disheveled dirty brown hair that was yearning for a cut. Swiveling his slightly red eyes right into her eyes whilst she fidgeted with her hands. "She wouldn't say a word whatever we asked her". Liza glared at her and Maimunah realized that the woman wasn't much of a nice person after all. The man who Maimunah remembered was Zakari whispered into Captain's ear whilst Captain studied her for a moment, rendering her comfortless, and he smirked a bit. "Arewa, I will call you Arewa". ~~~ Highest Ranking: #1 Human Trafficking (19/04/) ••••• The Rising Girls. Written and published by: Kherdeeniasse.

You can't predict the future" "Let's not beat around the bush and deceive ourselves but I don't see you in my future" I laughed incredulously, tears were threatening to escape now, making my eyes sting but I was never a weakling and I won't start being one over his hurtful words. Not now, not ever. "You better start seeing me in it because there's no where I'm going. We'll live together, share a room, share a bathroom, inhale in each other's scents, share our stories, you'll be someone's Father and I, Amirah Bawa will be their mother. I'll be in every sentence, in every line of your life's story one way or the other" "You're dreaming" He spat "hopelessly" he added with a mock smile. "No" I shook my head again "You're the one who's dreaming because look around you, we just finished taking the pictures that will inform the world of our impending nuptials" "Impending doom more like" He cut through my words with a sarcastic remark. "I learn to embrace what life throws at me" I taunted. His eyes clasped tightly with mine, he was so mad that his fury reflected in his gaze. They were so dark I thought I was going to pee on my self. "You can't embrace the misery I'll bring with me" With each step Kamal took I felt myself pressing, sinking further into the door. 0o0

They say belief is suicide. They're not wrong. Where I come from, faith gets you a bullet in the head, a knock at the door that never ends well, or a name etched on a list you'll never live to see. Still, I believe. So does Basil, my only constant in a world stripped of everything soft. We've been hunted for years, slept under stone, eaten from dirt, prayed in secret, and watched good people vanish for whispering the wrong words. We've made it all these years with nothing but our prayers and each other. But then came the rumour about a sanctuary where the believers can live fearlessly. A lie, probably. A trap, almost definitely. Basil wanted to chase it anyway, because we owed it to ourselves and to the others who share our struggle, he said. I went with him only because I couldn't bear to watch him go alone. I should've stopped him... But now it's too late. ❝Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers(Ghuraba).❞ ‹بَدَأَ الإِسْلاَمُ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ› (Includes books one, two and three in The Ghuraba Trilogy.)

He crouched in front of me, his breath ghosting over my face. "How do you live so easily, as if nothing happened?" I stiffened. "How do you sleep after destroying someone's future?" I bit down on my lip, my fists clenching. "How do you smile knowing you made a mother cry helplessly, night after night?" His voice rose with every word until it was a deafening roar. My ears rang, a sharp pain shooting through my head. "But don't worry," he said, his tone suddenly light, almost amused. "I'm here to make sure you never live with guilt." I lifted my eyes to his. He smirked. "No need to thank me." Then, without warning, he raised the rod high, bringing it down with brutal force. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the impact

I stiffened in his arms. ‎ ‎He noticed. Awkwardly, he pulled away. ‎ ‎"Sorry," he said, sounding almost shy. "I can wait till you're ready." ‎ ‎My chest tightened. I could barely look at him when I asked, "Can I please have my own separate room?" ‎ ‎I saw the way his mood shifted. His silence said what his mouth didn't. I had hurt him. Still, he nodded. ‎ ‎"Of course you can," he said quietly. "I'll stay in the opposite room." ‎ ‎Guilt rose in my throat like something bitter. I swallowed hard, but it didn't go away. ‎ ‎"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice small. How could I ask for a separate room on our first night together as a couple? What was wrong with me? ‎ ‎"It's okay," he said with a faint smile, and then he turned and walked out. ‎ ‎As soon as the door closed behind him, I felt the silence crawl back in. It wrapped itself around me like smoke, thick and suffocating. ‎ ‎For reasons I didn't fully understand, his touch had pulled something loose in me, memories I'd long buried beneath years of healing and distractions. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎I could feel my biological mother's coldness in my bones. Her voice sharp like broken glass. Her love, if it ever existed, was measured in cruelty. I had grown up under the weight of her rejection, bullied, maltreated, unloved. And worse. ‎ ‎There were things I never spoke about. Things that lived in shadows. ‎ ‎Things I tried to forget, but that came rushing back when a hand touched my skin for too long... even if it meant no harm. ‎ ‎It wasn't just the loneliness or the bruises. There were nights I still couldn't explain, and memories that made my stomach twist when I let them surface. ‎ ‎It was a cruel world, and I had learned early not to expect softness. ‎ ‎But then came my stepmom. A woman who should have felt like a stranger, but instead gave me warmth I had never known. She loved me with ease. She made peace feel possible. ‎ ‎She helped me believe that happines
