Eric is the captain of the defense for the Dauntless high school football team. He's got a bad temper and isn't afraid to show it. Sweet Layla is the coaches daughter. After constantly being harassed by Eric, she stands up to him. Unfortunately, instead of hating him, old feelings for him start to rise back up.

Dauntless initiation is fast approaching and this year, it has been decided that both stages of training will be held at Amity. The outdoors is said to give a new perspective to the initiates. Lianna, a true Amity revels in the fact that Dauntless soldiers will be coming to her home faction. She's heard stories of soldiers, one in particular that has caught her attention more than the rest. When Lianna meets Eric, she's immediately thrown into the world she's always wondered about but soon things begin to take a turn for the worst and she becomes trapped. An impenetrable cage where she's held hostage by the one person she was so intrigued by.

Aurelia was born in Amity and from her bright smile and kind personality everyone believes that Aurelia belongs there, but when the Dauntless and more importantly Eric visits Amity, sparks can't help but start to fly, and before you know it a dark secret is between them which could either break them or bring them together, it probably doesn't help that she is also divergent and joins Dauntless. This is set during tris's initiation, but no insurgent or allegient, completely different storyline
