A jeho Popelka neutekla s jiným. ~~~ Mary si přitáhla plášť jednou rukou blíže k tělu, jako kdyby jí to snad mělo nějak uchránit před vytrvalým lijákem, a to i navzdory faktu, že by se její sukně a živůtek nechaly dávno ždímat. Tou druhou sevřela nabízenou dlaň sira Lywenna, v té deštivé a větrné noci však ani nepostřehla, zda to byl skutečně on. A potom již pospíchala po cizímu molu na pevnou zem, do drobného přístaviště, jehož jméno neznala. Do městečka, kde se jim po hodině konečně podařilo vyjednat přístřeší. ~~~ Tento příběh je volným pokračováním 'Anne'. Přestože není vyloženě nutné znát děj předchozího příběhu, pro lepší pochopení doporučuji jeho přečtení. 'Mary' je fiktivním příběhem, a ačkoli se nese v duchu renesance a jejích reálií, nejsou zde zobrazeny žádné historické osobnosti či územní celky. Jistá podoba je však možná.
