Matheo would attend the gala with Iris, and they would be the perfect couple, the power duo that everyone admired. Meanwhile, Colette would be here, in this cold, empty house, a prisoner of her own despair. The realization was suffocating, the betrayal too deep to bear. Her heart ached with a pain so intense it felt physical, a crushing weight that left her gasping for breath. She sat down on the edge of the bed, her body trembling with a mixture of rage and sorrow. Tears streamed down her face, but she made no move to wipe them away. What was the point? The man she had loved with all her heart, the man she had trusted implicitly, had chosen another over her. He had lied to her, betrayed her, and now he was flaunting that betrayal in the most public way possible. But this was new! Now, he had started lying to her. So, that he could attend the gala with Iris without his "stupid, unreasonable" wife demanding to be taken to a public place with him? He wouldn't want that burden on him now, would he? No, Iris would look much better in his arms, cool and sophisticated, with her intellectual talks to charm his potential investors. She knew the ins and outs of his business and it wouldn't be the first time he had taken her to such events. The thought made Colette's stomach churn. But tonight, something snapped inside her. The dead flower of her heart, long withered from neglect and betrayal, turned to a crisp. She had been humiliated, shamed, hidden away in secret, and lied to. Matheo had been afraid she would embarrass him? Now she would show him what true embarrassment felt like. Maybe her marriage was over. Maybe her husband had only ever wanted her for one thing: sex. If that was the case, then tonight, she would be the epitome of sex. She would get ready to seduce him in public, and the whole world would see the actual of their marriage before she left him forever. If he wanted her as the whore, he will get the whore.

"I'm just a disposable toy to you, a whore, a convenient substitute until she returns. I sacrificed everything for you, even our innocent baby, only to realize I was merely a stand-in until she reclaimed her place. Was our love ever genuine, or was I simply a pawn in your twisted game?" She screamed, her cries echoed through the room, tears cascading down her cheeks like a torrent, her anguish palpable, her spirit shattered. Anger boiled within me, a raging inferno fueled not by her, but by her audacity. I fisted her hair, yanking her violently closer until there was no space between us. "You dare to call yourself 'just a disposable toy'?" I growled, my voice low and dangerous. "You think you're just a whore? Let me show you exactly how I treat my whores." She froze, realizing the gravity of the situation. Her lips quivered with fear as I tightened my grip, the pain evident in her eyes. "A replacement, huh?" I hissed against her lips, our gazes locked in a battle of wills. "This is all because of that damn baby, isn't it?" My fury intensified, and with a shove, I sent her crashing into the study room table. She stumbled, but I showed no mercy, closing in on her with purposeful strides. "I'll give you back that damn thing, and then there'll be no running from me-then you'll realize there's no escaping me. Not now. Not ever." With relentless force, I imprisoned her between the table and my unyielding embrace, making it clear who was in control. My hands slipped under her dress, claiming what's rightfully mine. With a swift motion, I unfastened my belt, driven by an insatiable urge and with an animalistic speed thrusted deep into her, consumed by raw desire. It was time for her to learn her place, to understand that she belonged to me and me alone. I vowed, in that moment of unbridled passion, that I would stop at nothing to ensure she remained mine-bound to me in both body and soul.

My husband, Mark, is a good man; he's a strong man. When I needed him to step up with our kids as I finished dental school, he became our little family's rock without ever complaining or being bitter. He owned late-night feedings and diaper changes like a champ while I slept so I could be prepared for my classes in the morning. Now, it's my turn to return the favor. He's working hard on a high-profile case that could change the trajectory of his career if he wins this case. In marriage, sometimes a little sacrifice is needed, which is why on our tenth wedding anniversary, like the past six months, I'm celebrating alone, a sacrifice I'm more than willing to give to the man who's so proudly stood by my side all these years. That is until this betrayal . . . . . . well, let's just say it was never a sacrifice I was willing to make. For Readers: *This story is a novella. My goal is to keep it UNDER fifteen chapters with each chapter no more than 2K words. *Constructive critiques are welcomed. * I do try my best to proofread, but mistakes will slip through. Feel free to point them out!

More than eight years before the novel opens, Anne Elliot, then a lovely, thoughtful, warm-hearted 19 year old, accepted a proposal of marriage from the handsome young naval officer Frederick Wentworth. He was clever, confident, and ambitious, but poor and with no particular family connections to recommend him. Sir Walter, Anne's fatuous, snobbish father and her equally self-involved older sister Elizabeth were dissatisfied with her choice, maintaining that he was no match for an Elliot of Kellynch Hall, the family estate. Her older friend and mentor, Lady Russell, acting in place of Anne's late mother, persuaded her to break the engagement. Now 27 and still unmarried, Anne re-encounters her former love when his sister and brother-in-law, the Crofts, take out a lease on Kellynch. Wentworth is now a captain and wealthy from maritime victories in the Napoleonic wars. However, he has not forgiven Anne for rejecting him. While publicly declaring that he is ready to marry any suitable young woman who catches his fancy, he privately resolves that he is ready to become attached to any appealing young woman except for Anne Elliot.

Emma Woodhouse, aged 20 at the start of the novel, is a young, beautiful, witty, and privileged woman in Regency England. She lives on the fictional estate of Hartfield in Surrey in the village of Highbury with her elderly widowed father, a hypochondriac who is excessively concerned for the health and safety of his loved ones. Emma's friend and only critic is the gentlemanly George Knightley, her neighbour from the adjacent estate of Donwell, and the brother of her elder sister Isabella's husband, John. As the novel opens, Emma has just attended the wedding of Miss Taylor, her best friend and former governess. Having introduced Miss Taylor to her future husband, Mr. Weston, Emma takes credit for their marriage, and decides that she rather likes matchmaking.
